Between 16 to 18 September 2014 in Budapest, Hungary was held Workshop on the competition topics on the market of the retail goods. At this seminar, as the representatives of the Competition Council have participated Lilia OGLINDA, the Head of the Directorate of the Economic Concentrations and Useful Market Studies and Andrei TOMSA, state controller of the Directorate of the Economic Concentrations and Useful Market Studies.
During the seminar were discussed the subjects on the determination of the relevant market in the retail goods trade sector, making the commitments in retail goods trade sector, purchasing power, requests for information by the competition authority, vertical constraints and abusive practices.
Thus, were examined the specific theoretical issues of the market above, but especially his emphasis on the experience of the competition authorities to investigate operations in the concerned market. In particular were presented case studies of competition authorities from Romania, Cyprus, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.
Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova, during the workshop, attended a presentation on control takeover by a conglomerate of local enterprises on a network of stores, during which emphasis was put on the procedure of taking control and possible effects of economic concentration in the determined relevant market.
The importance of this seminar was an increased one, because were gained new knowledge about the methods of evaluation and investigation of economic concentrations of the market for retail goods trade, was shared the experience of other countries, such as Cyprus, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Greece, France to investigate the operations of the certain market, while the image of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova was promoted internationally.
