Friday, February 21, 2014 Mrs. Viorica CARARE, President of the Competition Council attended the first roundtable of the Working Group of Trade, Services, Competition, under the project “National Convention on European Integration” .

     The main topic discussed at the roundtable was «Competition commitments of the Republic of Moldova stipulated in the Association Agreement with the EU.

     In the context Mrs. CARARE presented a report in which she spoke about ĂœMain achievements and challenges of competition and state aid in the context of signing the Association Agreement with the EU”.

     During discussions the President of the Competition Council stated that ” the creation of a normal competitive environment is the guarantee of successful implementation of Republic of Moldova commitments on competition laid down in the Association Agreement with the EU “, the main challenge is ” promotion of competitive culture “in order to ensure which participates whole society, the whole spectrum of the central and local public authorities and not just the Competition Council.

     Among the priorities were mentioned: the importance of eliminating institutional barriers – especially terms of regulation of certain markets, which currently tend to be over regulated; identification of enterprises with exclusive rights, regulating and monitoring their work; combating anticompetitive practices and unfair competition in the market and mandatory expertise by the Competition Council of the draft legislation that may have anticompetitive effects.
