Mrs.Viorica Cărare, the President of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova and Mr.Jose Maria Marin-Quemada, the President of the National Authority for Markets and Competition of the Kingdom of Spain signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Competition on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

The document contains provisions to enhance the exchange of experience between both authorities by creating an official framework for future joint actions and taking over EU best practices in the field of competition with reference to liberalization and regulation of the economic sectors.

 

The collaboration with the Spanish Competition Authority, which also integrates sectoral regulators such as energy, telecommunications, transport, postal services and audiovisual, started in 2016. Then a group of employees of the Competition Council benefited from a study visit at the Spanish Competition Authority, organized under the “Competition Council Support” EU Project.

The purpose of the visit was to take over the EU experience in the area of control of economic mergers, abuse of dominant position and development of market studies in the field of energy, telecommunications, transport, etc.

This visit served as a platform for initiating and deepening the cooperation relations between the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova and the Competition Authority in Spain, and for signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation during the official visit to the Kingdom of Spain of the President of the Competition Council, Mrs. Viorica CĂRARE.
