In order to implement effectively and fairly Law on state aid and its provisions, on March 13, 2014, Viorica CARARE, President of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova, paid a working visit to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.

     The meeting was attended by mayors and secretaries of municipalities of autonomous territorial unit and the executive servants (total 25 persons). During the meeting they were briefed on the concept of state aid, grant mechanisms, accounting and reporting thereof. The attention was drawn to the role of LPA as aid providers  and terms of implementation of the Law on state aid and on penalties that can be imposed for failure to comply with the aforementioned act.

     Purpose of the meeting lied in promoting effective collaboration with providers and beneficiaries of aid and granting specialized assistance on the ways of state aid granted in order to create a normal competitive environment, which is the guarantee of successful implementation of Republic of  Moldova commitments in competition field.

     In this context, the President of the Competition Council stated that “the correct application of the this Law as well as state aid notification or report to the Competition Council are particularly important in helping to prevent distortion of competition rules by state aid providers .”
