On 10 June 2025, the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova hosted the third Coordination Committee meeting of the EU Twinning Project “Strengthening the institutional capacities of the Competition Council for the enforcement of competition and State aid policies, in line with EU best practices.”
The meeting aimed to present and assess the progress achieved during the reporting period, as well as to identify the project’s priorities with a view to planning strategic actions for the next six months.
The event brought together representatives of the EU Delegation, the beneficiary institution – Moldova’s Competition Council – and the implementing consortium: the Romanian Competition Council (Lead Partner), alongside the competition authorities of Poland and Lithuania (Junior Partners). All partners acknowledged the constructive and effective cooperation within the project.
The meeting served to review progress made during the reporting period and to set strategic priorities for the next six months. Particular emphasis was placed on the impact of recent training sessions on State aid. and the shared commitment to Moldova’s EU accession process. The clear focus on tangible results was also welcomed, reflecting the commitment of all parties to serving the interests of the Republic of Moldova in the complex process of accession to the European Union.
All parties expressed confidence in the successful continuation of the project, emphasizing the need to give increased attention to the National Accession Plan, as well as to the European Commission’s recommendations set out in the bilateral screening report in which the beneficiary participated. These measures are essential to ensuring the full alignment of competition policies with the requirements of the EU acquis.
The Twinning project, launched on 1 October 2024, has a duration of 27 months and aims to strengthen the internal market of the Republic of Moldova by ensuring the effective enforcement of competition and State aid policies in line with the European Union acquis. In doing so, the project promotes undistorted competition, market integrity, and consumer protection in our country.
