President of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova, Viorica CARARE signed today, May 7, 2014, in Chisinau, along with her Estonian counterpart Mдrt OTS a bilateral Agreement on Cooperation of competition authorities from the republic of Moldova and Estonia.
On this occasion, Ms. Viorica CARARE, the President of the Competition Council stressed the importance of signing this agreement, stating that it will mark a new stage in the relations of collaboration between competition authorities with a history of more than 7 years, during which there were paid visits, seminars, study tours, and which would facilitate acquisition practices on the application of competition legislation based on the experience of both authorities.
The purpose of the Agreement is to foster professional cooperation between the two authorities in order to promote and increase the exchange of experience and information, mutual support, organizing regular consultations at the level of leadership of these bodies as well as on an expert level and promotion of actions on competition culture.
The agreement was signed during the visit of Mr. Mдrt OTS, Director General of the Estonian Competition Authority and Estonian delegation in Chisinau on Development Cooperation project “Promoting good governance in the competition and regulatory authorities in Moldova: public administration, e-government and inter-institutional cooperation” funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
From the international perspective, the Cooperation Agreement with Estonia is the sixth agreement signed by the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova with its counterpart abroad. Previous similar agreements were signed with the Hungarian Competition Authority (2007), the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia (2007), the Competition Council of Romania (2007), the Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition (2008), Authority competition in Austria (2009).
