19 May 2025, Chisinau – The President of the Competition Council, Alexei Gherțescu, and the Rector of the Technical University of Moldova, Professor Viorel Bostan, PhD, signed a cooperation agreement marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two institutions. The main objective of the agreement is to promote a competition culture and to strengthen the theoretical and practical training of students in key areas such as competition, State aid, advertising, regulation of rail transport services, unfair commercial practices, and online intermediation.

During the meeting, President Alexei Gherțescu highlighted the importance of partnerships with the academic environment:

“Through this agreement, we aim to bring the field of competition closer to future professionals. Our collaboration with Technical University of Moldova provides a solid platform for contributing to the education of a new generation of economists, engineers, and managers who understand the principles of the market economy and can support the development of a healthy competitive environment in the Republic of Moldova.”

In turn, Rector Viorel Bostan emphasized the multiple opportunities this partnership will offer to students and academic staff at Technical University of Moldova:

“The signing of this cooperation agreement with the Competition Council marks the beginning of a strong strategic partnership based on shared values: transparency, integrity, and professional excellence. The rules of the market and the principles of fair competition have always been, and continue to be, essential for the sustainable development of a modern economy. Therefore, education in these areas becomes a priority.”

According to the provisions of the agreement, the parties will jointly organize lectures, roundtables, thematic events, and internships. In addition, specialists from the Competition Council will actively contribute to the teaching process at Technical University of Moldova. The agreement also provides for the involvement of the Council in the development of the university curriculum on topics related to competition and regulated markets.

The partnership is set to be implemented over a period of five years, with the possibility of extension, providing a solid foundation for the professional development of young people and for the promotion of a fair and innovation-driven competitive economy.
