In the period 20-22 January this year, in Brussels, took place the bilateral screening session on Chapter 8: Competition policy. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova was led by Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy-Prime Minister for European Integration, alongside representatives of the Competition Council, including the president of the institution, Alexei Gherțescu.

The country presentations, carried out by the team of the national competition authority, focused on issues related to the general legal and institutional framework, antitrust rules applicable to undertakings, merger control, etc. state aid rules and anti-corruption measures in this area.

This process is a decisive step in the efforts to harmonize legislation with the standards of the European Union. Applying the same competition rules across the EU guarantees consumers more choice between high-quality products and services at competitive prices.
