Today, February 15, 2018, Parliament s plenary session examined and voted the draft Parliament s decision establishing the Competition Day. The holiday will be marked annually on June 30, when the Law on the Protection of Competition was adopted in 2000.
This draft was developed by the Competition Council in order to promote the competitive culture in society for promoting the legitimate interests of consumers as well as for informing the society on actions related to the prevention of anti-competitive practices and unfair competition.
The establishment of the “Competition Day” will determine the increase of the awareness of the need for a loyal competition environment and of the role and place of the competition in a market economy, as a high degree of competition can improve the economic performance of a state, open up business opportunities to its citizens and reduce the cost of goods and services across the economy.
At the same time, the establishment of the “Competition Day” will align the Republic of Moldova to the good international practices and will allow to discuss and highlight in the society the competition issues at national level, as well as to promote the competition policies.
